New food stop for Richards Bay

Veldenvlei residents can look forward to a Woolworths food market.

WOOLWORTHS will be branching out into the Richards Bay suburbs, as the renowned brand will be establishing one of their Food Stop franchises at the Engen garage, in Veldenvlei.

The garage closed its doors yesterday (Wednesday), and the estimated construction time for this project is said to be six months.

Shoppers to the new facility will be offered a variety of products which include fresh produce, prepared meals, deli products, take-away meals, fruit juices and drinks, to sweets and cakes.

The Food Stop will be attached to the newly-built Engen, along with a corner bakery and Steers restaurant.

This will be the first Woolworths Food Stop for Richards Bay.

City of uMhlathuze Mayor, Mayor Elphas Mbatha gladly welcomed this new establishment, adding that it will have knock-on benefits for the regional economy.

‘This type of development positively impacts the growth and progress of the town. It translates to job creation and increased employment for the city’s residents.

‘The establishment will contribute to the overall target of national government, which we strive to achieve as the City of uMhlathuze,’ he said.

Over and above these additions, the Engen car wash will be moved to the vacant land across the road, with the garage’s management aiming to provide its customers with a more improved service.

This development comes just after the recent announcement of the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre’s expansions which are currently in the pipeline. @Jarryd_Kast
