Grave robbers on the run

The suspects appeared to have been disturbed as the grave had been partially dug up but the casket and body had not.

AT least two suspects are on the run and sought by police officers for their alleged involvement in digging up a grave in KwaMbonambi last weekend.

Two young cattle herders reportedly witnessed two men digging up the grave of Gift Day Jiyeza who died in 1999 and was buried at the Nkuzembomvu Lutheran Church cemetery in KwaMbonambi.

They reportedly also noticed a further two men in a nearby vehicle. The youngsters reported the matter to the relatives of the deceased who went to the grave site but the suspects had fled.

The suspects appeared to have been disturbed as the grave had been partially dug up but the casket and body had not.

The incident was reported to the police and a case of ‘grave violation’ was opened.

The suspects are unknown and no arrests have, as yet, been made.
