New mall for Richards Bay shoppers

Town Square Mall will boast a Builders Warehouse, huge Superspar, restaurants and new retailers.

OVER 16 OOO square metres of open land along Richards Bay’s North Central Arterial and Bullion Boulevard will be transformed into a shopping magnet by next year.

M&F Guiricich Developers (Pty) Ltd, based in Johannesburg, are spearheading the project that will see home improvement giant Builders Warehouse open by November this year.

This will then be followed by further construction to Town Square Mall, which will house a 4 000m² Superspar, restaurants, fast-food drive-throughs, retailers and ATMs.

‘We started development on half of the entire site in November for the construction of Builders Warehouse as part of phase one of the project – estimated at approximately R180-million,’ said M&F Guiricich Developers Director Florian Guiricich.

‘By the end of March we will hopefully know when to start phase two for the rest of the shopping centre.

‘The timeline is very much tenant driven, but so far we already have both anchors of the mall – Builders Warehouse and Superspar.’

Town Square will boast a modern design with easy access to shops set right around a free open-air parking lot.

Property leaser Moolman Group’s management said they are expecting a number of well-known destination tenants, which will mostly be new entrants into the Richards Bay market.

‘This centre will contribute towards strengthening the area to become the most significant retail node in northern KZN.’

The group added the site has good visibility with a large portion of people entering the CBD from the arterial road for work and social purposes.
