Flushed out dealer sentenced

Cocaine with a street value of around R75 000 was recovered from the toilet pipe system.

NIGERIAN national, Christian Ifeanyi Nwangwu was charged with the illegal possession of drugs earlier this year.

This week, he was sentenced in the Richards Bay Magistrates Court to pay a fine of R24 000 or 12 years imprisonment, half suspended.

Nwangwu had initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty during the trial.

When members of the Richards Bay Organised Crime Unit, Empangeni Crime Intelligence and Richards Bay SAPS Border Security swooped on the his flatlet in Strelitzia Road, Arboretum in June this year, he had attempted to get rid of the drugs, by flushing them down the toilet.

Cocaine with a street value of around R75 000 was recovered from the toilet pipe system and in the flat.
