AN alleged rapist was arrested at the Mpumaze area in eShowe after a tip-off from the community.
According to Empangeni SAPS spokesperson Captain Mdlalose, the mother of an 11-year-old girl from the Mhlathuzana area near Mtunzini, reported her daughter had been raped by the suspect, Mkhulu Mzimela(52).
‘It is alleged that children were playing in a yard when Mzimela appeared and dragged the victim down to a nearby river where he raped her. The incident took place on 8 November.’
The docket was handed over to the Empangeni Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation.
After following various leads, Investigating Officer Constable Mlondo received information that Mkhulu had left his place of residence and was on the run.
He was arrested in eShowe and appeared in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and will remain in custody until Wednesday pending further investigation.
Justice must be done,this old man should be arrested for his filthy and unaccepted behavior.Whose going to protect out children now when older people start behaving like this hence most of the time we always look up to old people with respect in our communities and even our own homes.This man should be sentenced 3 lives in maximum prison.
