Turn up the heat for charity

DICE cook-off underway as R15 000 is donated toward the purchasing of ingredients.

THE countdown to a night filled with flavour and zeal is on!

Six chefs will battle it out to win the coveted Zululand Chef of the Year title at Umfolozi Casino Resort on 3 October at the fourth annual Zululand Observer ‘Do I Care Enough?’ fund-raiser.

Zululand’s event of the year, not to be missed, will see these chefs getting hot in the kitchen as they infuse spices and herbs to create gastronomic bite-size dishes to tantalise the judges and guests’ taste buds.

Last week, ‘The Outpost’ owner, Pieter Koortzen at Meerensee Country Club donated a cheque valued at R15 000 which will be equally split between competing chefs to purchase ingredients for the night.

The competitors will present a delightful spread of starters and mains which will be judged by a panel of highly qualified food judges.

Durban based ‘The Fusion Cooking School’ Principal, Chef Patron and guest judge of the night, Shaun Smith will prepare a mouth-watering and delectable dessert.

Experience a night full of explosive flavours, as these talented foodies plate up a feast!

Make sure to get your tickets, sold at R170 per person.

Funds raised at the cook-off will be donated to DICE and will be used for the ‘Christmas Cheer’ parcels providing food to families and gifts to children.
