Local college scoops top music awards

UMFOLOZI FET College choir scooped four accolades after competing with nine KZN colleges during the FET Colleges Music Festival held at eSikhaleni last Friday.

Talented choirs from eSikhaleni, eShowe and Richtek campuses took first position in Ingoma Girls and second place in other categories.

An excited Umfolozi FET principal, Sam Zungu, cheered for his choir throughout the competition. He said there was a lot of talent at his institution that needed to be unleashed.

‘Our students demonstrated their ability to excel in all categories where they were afforded the opportunity to participate. I believe Umfolozi College possesses vast talent which needs to be unearthed,’ he said.

‘We strongly believe that this college will grow from strength to strength and hopefully collect every award on offer by 2015.’

The aim of the fun-filled competition, which had the hall packed to its maximum capacity, was to nurture, celebrate and promote the FET students’ talent in the music sphere.
