Family Care meets growing demand

Richards Bay Family Care gives good report.

RICHARDS Bay Family Care (RBFC) is currently enjoying a stable and productive period, with no financial constraints and a full complement of staff able to meet increasing social relief demands.

Speaking at the association’s AGM held on Tuesday evening, RBFC chairman Paul Venter said despite losing some key, experienced personnel at

both the professional and administrative level, replacement staff including a new Head of Office had admirably continued delivering a reliable service.

Despite donations remaining low – a reflection of the current state of the economy – Lottery income and ‘trusted local sponsors and donors’ had ensured a healthy financial position.

‘We are well geared to serve our community with our established facilities and well-staffed, highly professional team,’ said Venter.

While RBFC social workers reported solid service delivery, the issue of delays with regard to adoption accreditation is being addressed with the National Department of Social Development.

The interaction with other NGOs was praised by Head of Office, Lebogang Maribe who arrived in Richards Bay from Pretoria four months ago.

‘The people here have been warm and welcoming and special thanks must go to the sponsors, without whom we could not function,’ said Maribe.
