Naked intruder in doctor’s room

The man was arrested and charged for residential burglary.

FOUND naked and wandering around a doctor’s room during the early hours of Saturday morning, Wynand Viljoen (39) was arrested and charged for residential burglary.

He appeared at the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was subsequently granted bail.

The case has been postponed to 11 August for further investigation.

‘Viljoen broke down the glass door of the doctor’s room to gain entry which subsequently set off the alarm,’ said Richards Bay SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira.

The premises in Essenwood Way, Arboretum and protected by Alpha Security and Patrols saw a speedy response from the company.

‘Our armed response personnel blocked off the suspect from escaping and ensured he got dressed while they called for backup and waited for the police to arrive,’ said Alpha Security and Patrols Sales and Marketing Representative, Christene van Wyk.

‘We then called the doctor who was out of town at the time and requested permission to open a case on his behalf, which we did,’ she added.

According to a source, Viljoen is a qualified technician.

  1. This is “swak styl”. I cannot believe the Zululand Observer published this photo. Did anyone try to find out what really happened? I don’t think so. What happened to caring and trying to help instead of using someone’s downfall to sell news papers. No, I did not expect this from the ZO. I am sure that this gentleman did not mean to harm anyone in any way.

  2. I agree. I don’t think the picture was necessary and his name is bad enough. Insensitive, ZO. I don’t know him but I’m guessing the man probably suffers from a mental illness. Why would anyone intentionally go around robbing houses in the nude unless they were ill? Unimpressed with this article.

  3. That man is a diabeties sufferer. He may well have been looking for help! I have assisted him previously in Empangeni as some called me when he was trying to ride his motorbike and kept falling down. When I found it was him I took him to eat food and drink a coke at a nearby shop. He recovered after some time and I then took him home. I suspect he had a similar occurrence now. Just hope he was medically checked before being put in the cells.

  4. I am very proud of ZO because they do their job without any favoure keep it up ,to expose some1 who have done wrong is very good no matter if u white or black.

  5. He did do harm to the building by breaking down doors. I wonder if you guys will feel the same if it was a black man. I don’t care about colour, he is a criminal, he chose to be a criminal, whether he has diabetes or not. What happened to asking rather than taking by force and without permission. Good job ZO!

  6. The photo was not necessary i thought the man is seeking medical assistant and needed help. he might be a patient of that doctor, The media need to be called to order they published anything. If its not a naked men its a naked woman.

The photo shows the man nearly naked with hands bound.
    Who took the photo?
How did the newspaper get this photo?
    This company tells lies!
Did the man get medical attention after the SAPS arrested him?
    Poor journalism reporting!

  8. The sickest part is that the guy who arrested him knows him and thought it was a joke that’s only one of a few photos that was spread luckily the police knew he was sick and immediately got him medication…shame on you for making a joke of your own.. And nothing was stolen he was passed out on the floor …I will never again buy the ZO………tsssk tsssk

  9. Lelo what did he take? Nothing …….never was the written he stole anything and congrats to alpha for taking pictures of a man who couldn’t defend himself… Disgusted

  10. Sies vir julle ZO … het julle aan die man se kinders gedink toe julle die foto en sy naam gepubliseer het? Swak man, baie swak.

en bekky, los nou maar die rasse ding toe… dit is nou al holrug gery.

  11. I find it strange that people are quick to judge, if this guy broke into YOUR premises and damaged YOUR property I’m sure then you would have had a different opinion on how he was treated. Congrats to Alpha Security & Patrols on your quick response in apprehending the criminal and the Observer for reporting the crime. There is no way in determining the mental condition of a person when they are caught, you guys did your job and for that, as a resident in the area, I am grateful. Everyone has issues but committing a crime is at the end of the day ,a CRIME.
