Missing Tarzan re-united with his ‘father’

Missing Tarzan returns home safely.

AFTER almost giving up on ever seeing his missing ‘child’ again, Gert Nel of KwaMbonambi Village was so ecstatic when his five-year-old Jack Russell was returned, he literally cried tears of joy.

‘When Tarzan went missing on May 28, at first I thought nothing much of it because he is such a friendly dog.

‘Whenever he sees people he just follows them around.

‘Apparently he had followed some dogs which he met on the road outside our yard, but when he didn’t come back by the end of the second day I began to worry about his whereabouts.

‘After almost four weeks of him being gone, I then decided to put a letter in the Zululand Observer, and lo and behold, someone called me on Monday, saying they found my Tarzan near some sugarcane plantation, about five kilometres away,’ said a jubilant Nel.

He then went to Kwambo Shell Garage where he was asked to call to get his ‘child’.

He said he didn’t believe his eyes when in actual fact it was his Tarzan, waiting there for him as if he never went missing at all.

He said even though Tarzan had some chain scratches around his neck; showing he must have been chained by his new ‘masters’, and ticks all over his small body, he looked like he had been well fed.

‘I want to pass my gratitude to the lady who found my ‘child’, and the Indian lady who works at the garage for giving me that call which brought me my lost friend and family,’ he said.

Nel pleads with people who happen to find missing animals not to just take them home, but rather to take them to their nearest police station, or call the SPCA if possible.
