St Lucia mourns a favourite son

Residents weep at the loss St Lucia icon.

KNOWN by many and loved by all who knew him, the untimely passing of St Lucia Ski Boat Club Bar Manager Jabu Msezane on Monday morning, came as a shock to the St Lucia community.

Msezane’s body was found at the entrance of the club with gunshot wounds.

The police initially treated the case as a suspected hijacking incident when it was discovered that his vehicle was missing.

After finding his abandoned car on the gravel road at Umfolozi Sugar Mill in Mtubatuba with stolen items in,the case changed into a murder and robbery investigation. Club takings were also stolen.

Inyala Security confirmed the club’s alarm had not been activated on Sunday night.

SAPS Communications Officer, Lieutenant Mpontshane, confirmed the weapon used in Jabu Msezane’s murder to be a 9mm this coming after a bullet casing was found at the scene.

The bullet is thought to be a ‘hollow bullet’ which means it disperses on impact.

While no arrests have yet been made, SAPS officers are following fresh leads and believe more than one suspect was involved.
