Building the future generation

Izulu Orphan Project spearheads early childhood development programmes in Zululand.

INTENT on developing the ‘hope of the future’, Izulu Orphan Projects (IOP) has prioritised programmes to promote early childhood development and youth enhancement.

Spearheaded by Shelley Bain, the non-profit organisation, which supports orphans and children of HIV positive widows, recently held a workshop to train crèche teachers at IOP Bain Age at Mevamhlophe.

‘We taught them practical tools on how to operate a crèche and different teaching methods using toys and other resources.

‘The training for early childhood development was made possible through a donation from Guzulu and IOP Bain Age. If we are able to secure further funding, we will be able to host another workshop with more teachers from other areas,’ said Bain.

In commemoration of Youth Day, IOP also visited three local schools handing out sunglasses, balls and new shoes to ecstatic pupils

The organisation further handed over 27 wheelbarrows to needy widows in Zululand following a donation by the Durban Youth Council, which comprises Grade 11 pupils.

‘Our aim is to school, feed and clothe as many orphan children as possible and to impact the local community through education, health awareness and job creation,’ said Bain.
