Business park attracts new tenants

John Ross Eco Junctions is at 95% occupation, pending the finalisation of tenants.

TENANTS are lining up for the new eco-friendly business development being constructed on the outskirts of Empangeni.

The John Ross Eco Junction – a 195.000m² site, is situated at the intersection of the N2 highway and the John Ross Parkway and is being uniquely developed in an environmentally sustainable fashion.

Leasing consultant, Queen Mjwara, said the junction’s drawcard for tenants was its specific focus on rainwater capture, renewable energy sources, permeable paving and the conservation of indigenous plant life.

She said the development was sitting at 95% occupation pending the finalisation of tenants.

Divisional Director of Liberty Group Property Development, Graham Kusano, said a number of inquiries from potential tenants had increased in recent weeks.

‘Negotiations with the likes of warehouse, motor showrooms, mini factories, hospital operators and distribution centre users are in the advanced stages,’ said Kusano.

‘A 10-year lease agreement with Tangawizi Motors for four reputable motor dealership brands: Hyundai, Daihatsu, Renault and Honda has already been concluded.

‘Once the development is complete, the four dealerships will occupy a total floor space of approximately 7 060 m²,’ Kusano said.

A petrol station as well as an Italtile Limited outlet, a private hospital, doctors’ rooms and a hotel have also reserved a number of sites.

The development will primarily serve the area around the greater uMhlathuze Municipality which includes Richards Bay, Empangeni, KwaMbonambi and Mtunzini.

John Ross Eco Junction is within an area that has been identified as a high potential development link for its easy access to railway, seaport and airport facilities.

The site presents a significant opportunity for development in the mixed-use business sector, incorporating light industrial and commercial mixed-use developments, warehousing and showrooms on more than 30 sites.
