Damaging winds forecast for Wednesday night

SA Weather Service issues yellow level 1 warning of damaging winds that may cause difficulty in navigating at sea

Damaging winds that could cause disruption within ports and harbours are forecast for parts of KwaZulu-Natal from midnight tonight (Wednesday) until 10am tomorrow.

The yellow level 1 warning of strong winds may cause difficulty in navigating at sea.

“A cold front with a high pressure ahead of it creates a tight gradient resulting in strong NE 30 to 40 knot (55 – 74km/h) winds between Port Edward and Durban tomorrow early morning, moderating towards midday,” announced the SA Weather Service.

The latest weather warning comes amid a recent appeal by National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) to bathers, boaters, paddlers, sailors, shoreline anglers and coastal hikers to be cautious around the coastline in the coming days.

This as the full moon spring tide approaches for Thursday and may cause the daily high tides to be higher than normal and the daily low tides to be lower than normal.
