The affected area is from Port Edward in the south to St Lucia in the north, including KwaDukuza, Mandeni, uMfolozi and uMlalazi in the Zululand region.

Potential impacts include disruption of beachfront and port/harbour activities; difficulty navigation; small vessels at risk of capsizing and taking on water; localised damage to coastal infrastructure, and localised damage to or extensive modification of beaches.

“Avoid beachfront activities like swimming or shore/rock angling; small vessels should avoid going out to sea if possible; attentively listen to the radio or watch television and keep an eye on social media for updates,” said SAWS.
