Zululanders are once again joining the sweetest fundraising drive of the year as they gear up for Cupcakes of Hope 2024.
National Cupcake Day for Kids with Cancer is set to be held on 28 September and, as usual, Zululand’s ‘cupcake angels’ will be selling their sweet delights in Richards Bay.
Different from previous years, Richards Bay’s Cupcakes of Hope will be sold at Dolosfees this year on both this coming Friday and Saturday.
Note, they will not be at the shopping malls as in previous years.
This year, a fundraiser dance will also be held to raise funds for kids with cancer.
The event is scheduled for 25 and 26 October.
A dance and karaoke is set for 25 October, while on the 26th, various artists will perform at the MOTH Hall in Empangeni.
These include Wikus Botma, Dalene Genis, Shanay and Koos, and also Johnny.

How you can help
While Melanie Botha and Helena Pieterse have a gazebo for their Cupcakes of Hope stand at Dolosfees, sponsorship of an event dome would make their day.
They have cupcake angels ready and waiting to start baking, but more donations of cupcake-making ingredients, or cash donations for them to buy, are welcome.
More cupcake bakers are also welcome to put their hands up because the more cupcakes are baked, the more are sold and the more money is raised for this worthy cause.

About the day
National Cupcake Day for Kids with Cancer has been held annually since 2012 as a fundraiser for Cupcakes of Hope, an NPC and PBO that supplies assistance and support to the families and children who are diagnosed with cancer.
Since 2012, more than R10-million has been raised countrywide to provide for hundreds of young cancer patients and their families every month. This includes covering their medical bills and other essential needs, from nappies to nutrition and everything in between.
