More repairs on N2 uMfolozi bridge
Temporary road closures amid ongoing repairs to the N2 bridge near uMfolozi river
Motorists can expect further delays on the N2 amid ongoing repairs to the bridge just south of the Mfolozi River.
There will be temporary road closures at the bridge owing to infrastructure maintenance being conducted by the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral).
The road closure is today (Friday) and Saturday, 7 September between 9am and 2pm.
Maintenance being conducted includes line marking sandblasting, removal of barriers, and repair of asphalt surfacing.
“As part of the casting of concrete parapet process (building the concrete barrier on the bridge), temporary lane closures with stop-and-go control will be implemented,” said Serisha Sukraj, Sanral Eastern Region project manager.
The bridge in question has been propped up with scaffolding for several years after being damaged by a truck.
Repair work commenced earlier this year, with motorists being diverted off the N2 and onto the on-ramp/off-ramps.
