In circumstances unknown but to be investigated by the police, a tanker, a light motor vehicle and a light delivery vehicle collided.
The driver of the light motor vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene, while one other motorist sustained moderate injuries.
Mounties EMS responded to the call-out and treated the injured, while other emergency services secured the scene and dealt with the tanker’s potentially hazardous load.
The roadway was obstructed, with only the emergency lanes open for motorists.
This was the second obstruction causing delays on the N2 this morning, as a truck carrying sugar cane had overturned and lost its load near the Hluhluwe off-ramp at around 4am.
