Truck drivers’ forum postpones national shutdown

All Truck Drivers' Forum Allied South Africa calls for temporary suspension to proposed national shutdown

REPORTS emerged early this morning (Monday) that the planned national shutdown, called for by the All Truck Drivers’ Forum (ATDF) was called off at the eleventh hour.

This is according to SA Trucker, and confirmed by ATDF ASA regional secretary Sifiso Nyathi.

According to reports, the planned national shutdown was temporarily halted following a meeting on Sunday with relevant stakeholders.

The forum said it would closely monitor the implementation plan agreed upon in the visual meeting.

SA Trucker reported that the forum urged all its members to refrain from any illegal activity, ‘and expressed hope that government departments would uphold their commitment to intensify inspections and enforcement of compliance regulations’.

Details will be made available once more information comes to light.
