WATCH: Trio of serpents for Richards Bay snake catchers

2.2m black mamba among the snakes caught in the City of uMhlathuze this week

Local snake catcher Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel has had his tongs full recently, with numerous snake call-outs in the late summer scorching temperatures.

A call-out to the Richards Bay harbour led to the capture of a python by Peter’s 13-year-old son, Mason, aka ‘Snakemason’.

Grateful that his son is following in his footsteps, Peter said, “It can be nerve-racking to think about because I know that the day for him to start dealing with venomous snakes is coming.”

For now though, nature-loving Mason will have to leave the deadly catches to Peter, and in true Daring style he caught a 2.2m black mamba at a construction site in Empangeni.
