WATCH: Schoolchildren involved in Empangeni head-on collision

The R102 between Empangeni and Felixton was this morning (Tuesday) brought to a standstill during rush-hour after two vehicles collided head on.

One of the vehicles was transporting schoolchildren and, according to reports from the scene, was rear-ended while waiting to turn into a side road.

The collision occurred just after 6.30am.

Of the 10 children involved in the accident, five suffered serious injuries while three were moderately injured.

KwaZulu Private Ambulance and Mounties EMS paramedics treated the injured on scene before transporting them to Ngwelezana and Melomed hospitals for further medical care.
