Police in Hluhluwe confiscated suspected counterfeit goods during a multi-disciplinary operation over the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Sbusiso Mkhize said 16 suspects were arrested for various offences.
The operation was held in the Hluhluwe area along the R22, and in Hluhluwe town.
“Suspects were arrested for various crimes including possession of suspected counterfeit goods, pointing with a firearm, attempted rape, dealing in liquor without a licence, reckless and negligent driving, assault grievous bodily harm, contravention of the Immigration Act, and drunk driving,” said Mkhize.
“Forty-three pairs of takkies, as well as liquor were confiscated by police for further investigation.
“The arrested suspects were expected to appear at Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court (Monday).”
