Mtuba water contractors introduced

Mdaka said in the coming weeks a third contractor will be introduced

uMkhanyakude District Mayor Siphile Mdaka on Monday introduced contractors who will work on water projects in the Mtubatuba area.

Accompanied by the municipality’s councillors at Mgeza Traditional Council, Mdaka introduced two contractors who will ensure the residents of 13 wards under Mtubatuba Municipality have water.

Work will be divvied up between the contractors, with one working in wards 1, 2, 4, 5, 15 and 22, where water schemes are expected to be revived and taps are to be installed at households.

The other contractor will work in wards 3, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21 and 23, where water infrastructure will be fixed so residents are supplied with the precious resource.

Mdaka said in the coming weeks a third contractor will be introduced to carry out work in the remaining wards, and assured that all areas within this jurisdiction would be covered.

Mdaka requested that the district municipality, its council and traditional counterparts at Mgeza work hand-in-hand ‘in the struggle’ to ensure all households are supplied with water.

The district mayor thanked Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu for allocating over R200-million to address Mtubatuba’s water challenges.

He also thanked the municipal councillors for their hard work ethic and dedication.

Mdaka said in the coming days he will visit each of the aforementioned wards to address the communities about the projects, as well as the employment and business opportunities that will be created.

Inkosi Ntokozo Mkhwanazi thanked Mdaka for his hard work and commitment to ensuring residents are supplied with water, which he said is an indication that the district mayor cares about their well-being.

Mdaka is expected to visit kwaNibela in Hluhluwe to introduce similar projects for that area.
