Man accused of raping two schoolchildren abandons bail application

A man who stands accused of raping two schoolchildren earlier this week abandoned his bail hearing.

The accused (32) appeared at Pongola Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, and faces two charges of the rape of minors.

His case was postponed to Monday, 2 June.

The accused works as a driver of private scholar transport, and his duty was to transport children to the local preschool on a daily basis.

Following the abandonment of his bail application, he remains in custody.
