WATCH: Torrential rains hit Empangeni and surrounds
The heavy downpour was accompanied by bolts of lightning and claps of thunder
As parts of the City of uMhlathuze were hit by a highly localised deluge on Friday morning into the afternoon, there were only light showers and sunny skies in other areas of the Zululand region.
The heavy downpour recorded in Empangeni, which was accompanied by bolts of lightning and claps of thunder, caused road drainage systems to overflow, leading to flooding on some of the city’s roads.
