Richards Bay’s Marsha smashes South African 48-hour running record

Marsha Muller sets new women's 48-hour record at the Running Festival

MAKING the news headlines once again for an incredible running feat is Richards Bay runner Marsha Muller who is the newest South African and African women’s 48-hour record holder.

This after she participated in the Running Festival at the Wychwood Circuit in Germiston this week and set a new record at 267.5km.

Muller took to the Germiston track at 6am on Wednesday and stopped at 6am today (Friday).

“The race was amazing, everything I ever imagined it to be,” said Muller.

“I can’t thank SMG enough for sponsoring my entry; without that I may not have been able to bring this home for us all in the Bay.

“Breaking the record was my number one goal. To tackle a record or number one seat in anything in life, one has to be cheeky and confident in believing you could ace your goal.”

While Muller says her feet are sore, this endurance athlete who has a number of 100-milers and Comrades under her belt is undoubtedly already looking ahead to the next challenge.
