The alleged assault matter between the Mtubatuba councillor and secretary of his ward committee has entered into mediation.
Councillor Sifiso Vilane appeared at the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for allegedly assaulting Lindelani Magwaza.
Magwaza confirmed that he has entered into peace talks with Vilane and that the mediation has been largely successful.
The matter was set back to 27 October, with the magistrate stating that if the mediation has not been finalised by then, the matter should proceed for trial.
Vilane declined to comment while that the matter was still before court.
Magwaza, who has obtained a protection order against the councillor, opened the case against Vilane after the councillor allegedly slapped him and threatened his life.
