EFF distances itself from statement bearing its logo

The party's KZN branch also denies issuing a statement related to the so-called missing millions

EFF KZN Secretary Sifiso Mthethwa has said his party knows nothing about a statement bearing its logo and purported to have been issued by its ‘Mtubatuba Ground Forces’ demanding ‘accountability on the alleged R46-million said to be missing’ at Mtubatuba Municipality.

Mthethwa added that the party knows nothing about the allegations made in the statement.

“I have seen that statement and it is not from the EFF. We know nothing about it,” Mthethwa said.

Mthethwa said the party would investigate where the statement originated.

The statement in question calls on ‘the councillors deployed’ to the local municipality to ‘account and give feedback on the alleged missing R46-million’, which it is claimed was revealed in an ‘internal auditor’s report tabled before council on 30 August’. These councillors are given seven days to respond.

He said the party also does not know anything about the allegation of the ‘missing’ R46-million.

“If there is any money that has gone missing, we would not hide that but would expose it. But from our side, for now, we can say this allegation is not true,” Mthethwa said.
