Mtubatuba’s female police officers take charge
All-female roadblock held in Mtubatuba during Women's Month
Last week, female police officers from Mtubatuba SAPS took charge, in recognition of Women’s Month, as they conducted roadblocks and stop-and-search operations in town.
The operation yielded positive results.
Several arrests were made, and illegal goods recovered, including a ‘big bag of dagga’.
Mtubatuba SAPS spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said three men who were in possession of marijuana were arrested, seven summonses for traffic offences were issued, 11 crates of beer were recovered and a person who allegedly intended to sell them without a license was arrested, and a ‘big bag of dagga was found abandoned’ in town.
Hlabisa said the SAPS female officers joined hands with the local municipality’s protection service to conduct the roadblocks.
“Law enforcement was on the lookout for illegal firearms, drugs and any other unwanted objects,” Hlabisa said.
