Richards Bay Minerals employees again under attack

The incident occurred on Friday morning

THE vehicles of employees travelling to Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) have once again been subjected to attacks by unknown assailants.

Confirming the incident which occurred on Friday morning, the company said those who were injured have received medical attention.

The statement reads as follows:
Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) and Rio Tinto regret to advise that some of our people were injured on the morning of 22 July when buses carrying them to work were attacked by a group of unknown assailants.

All our people have received medical attention and we expect them to make a full recovery.

RBM MD Werner Duvenhage said: “This attack, which follows an earlier bus shooting on 19 July, significantly impacts the well-being of our people.

“While we take all steps to support them through their recovery, we also continue to work closely with Saps to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of all our people.”
