8 ways you can help victims of the #kznfloods

The KZN floods have been devastating, and if you're looking for ways to assist, here's how...

What should have been a long weekend welcoming tourists to the Kingdom of the Zulu has turned into a provincial disaster, with lives and livelihoods destroyed as the worst floods in decades descended upon KZN.

Following two years of Covid-19 restrictions, lootings and protests, the families and businesses were just starting to put the pieces together when the next devastating event hit.

This Easter, why not consider supporting those in need with a donation, whether monetary or other?

KZN flood impact to date
On 11 April, more than 300mm of rainfall was received in KZN in a 24-hour period, substantially more than previous flooding. In 2019, 165mm fell on 22 April and in 2017, 108mm was recorded on 10 October.
It’s understood that this record equates to around 75% of the country’s average annual precipitation – and this is following a summer season that had already experienced significant rainfall.

At the time of writing, the death toll had risen to 405 with many people still unaccounted for. More than 40 000 KZN residents have been affected with access to water and power still unreliable, if not existent in some areas.
The needs are many and the supplies so limited, so here’s a list of charities that are helping on the ground. If you want to show support, consider contributing here.
