A call for assistance went out to the St Lucia security WhatsApp group, to help remove a snake from a residential property.

Start (Specialised Tactical Accident Rescue Team) members promptly responded, and were met with a 3.5m southern African python.

This particular species is protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.

With help from a St Lucia-based Saps member, the Start team safely captured and secured the python.

After getting the all-clear from the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife section ranger, the python was safely released in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
