Support for Mfolozi drown victim’s family

A man was washed away in the Mfolozi River last weekend

Umfolozi Deputy Mayor Ndlelenhle Gumede has urged community members to refrain from crossing flooding rivers.

This after a man was washed away in the Mfolozi River last weekend.

Yoyo Msweli’s body was found kilometres downriver from the spot where he disappeared underwater.

Umfolozi Deputy Mayor Ndlelenhle Gumede pays his respects to the deceased

Gumede visited the deceased’s family last Tuesday and donated groceries as the deceased was the sole breadwinner.

‘I want to convey our sincere condolences to his family, relatives and friends. ‘It is not clear whether Msweli was fishing or attempting to cross the river.

Not all of his remains were found, but the family managed to identify him by the T-shirt he was wearing.

‘We also want to appeal to motorists to not cross low-level bridges if a river is in flood as that could be very dangerous,’ Gumede said.
