How to renew your car licence quicker through the post office

Motorists will be able to register on the National Administrative Traffic Information System (Natis) website and will receive an SMS to remind them that they should renew their vehicle licences.

Although only expected to be launched early next year, once up and running the SA Post Office’s vehicle licence online renewal facility is expected to significantly reduce transaction times for motorists taking advantage of the system.

Motorists can register on the National Administrative Traffic Information System (Natis) website and will receive an SMS to remind them that they should renew their vehicle licences.

The SMS will contain reference numbers that speed up the renewal transaction, and will be sent a month before a licence renewal is due.

Presenting the SMS or printed renewal reminder eliminates a number of steps for the renewal transaction at a post office counter and saves a great deal of time.

To speed up the process, the renewal notice can be printed by customers and presented at the post office branch when renewing the vehicle licence.

To register on the Natis website, go to https://www.natis.gov.za/

Click on ‘online services’, then ‘vehicle renewals’ to register and subsequently download and print the notice, or to receive a renewal reminder SMS.
