Fully funded by uMkhanyakude district stakeholders, the programme assesses the needs of rural schools and its pupils, with the initial phase already benefitting Vezobala High School and Silethukukha High School in Khula Village.

This included the donation of sanitary pads to female pupils, under the Caring 4 Girls initiative, as well as an educational talk.

Stakeholders involved are Mpendulo Mbuyazi, Thami Goge (Gee Ncome Trading), Andile and Syanda Msane (Elamawele Logistics), Cebile and Nina (Ilimo Farmers), Celukwazi Khumalo (Aries Beauty), S’nalo Tshabalala (Rare), S’fiso Vumase from iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Lihle Mthethwa from Imbumba Foundation and cllr S’ya Khumalo (ward 3).

‘While we are incredibly thankful to our stakeholders for their involvement, we still need more funds for this programme to be successful,’ said Mkhwanazi.

‘We also wish to work with the local municipalities of schools impacted by the uMkhanyakude Rural Schools Development Programme.’
