Job seekers protest peacefully for employment opportunities

A PEACEFUL demonstration outside Foskor in Richards Bay this (Wednesday) morning by North Coast Workers Forum (NCWF) members, aimed at addressing ongoing concerns of outside companies bringing in their own workers despite the call for unemployed locals to be given preference.

NCWF Director, Wiseman Ndlovu said members began gathering at the entrance of the corporate just after 6am in a peaceful manner and did not obstruct traffic.

‘Regardless of our engagements with Foskor to ensure any shutdown or contractor work is given to local companies, who will then employ locals, we have discovered that pre-shutdown work has been given to a company from Johannesburg and they refuse to employ locals. ‘We will meet with Foskor management this morning to discuss the matter, said Ndlovu.
