Snake expelled from school in Richards Bay

Peter safely removed the snake from the vehicle for release in a more hospitable environment

Snakes do pop up in the strangest of places, and the latest reported removal of a striking juvenile brown forest cobra required both a snake catcher and a motor mechanic.

‘I received a call on Friday from Richards Bay Primary School to say there was a snake in a car engine,’ said Richards Bay reptile remover, Peter Daniel.

‘Unfortunately, the snake had disappeared so a mechanic was called by the owner to take the panels off so we could search for it.

‘After a while, the mechanic spotted it inside the car and, as it made its way through the fire wall, the mechanic grabbed at it.

‘Luckily he missed, as a bite from this little guy would not have been very nice!’

All was well in the end, as Peter safely removed the snake from the vehicle for release in a more hospitable environment.
