Veteran Nongoma boxing promoter mourned

Tributes for Magudulela have poured in from across the country, his death coming as a blow to all

Veteran boxing promoter, Thulani ‘Nkunzi’ Magudulela, who hails from Dabhazi in Nongoma, died last Tuesday after a short illness.

IFP Spokesperson on Sports and Recreation in the KZN Legislature, Mtomuhle Khawula said they are devastated about the untimely passing of Magudulela, who traded under the banner of Ludonga Boxing Promotions.

‘The boxing fraternity has suffered another big blow, with his death coming shortly after that of Mzimasi Mnguni, another renowned South African boxing promoter,’ said Khawula.

‘Nkunzi promoted the sport of boxing in the rural areas and produced champions such as Moruti Mthalane, and Thabiso Mchunu, to name a few.

‘He had the ability to identify and nurture boxing talent in the early stages. The IFP will forever cherish his efforts towards community-building and promoting sober habits among young boys and girls.’
