Residents in support of the amended by-laws hope that officers patrolling recreational areas this festive season are empowered to crack down on such behaviour before lives are lost

LAW-ABIDING residents eagerly await the gazetting of the recently re-worked municipal ‘no public drinking’ by-law which they hope will put an end to the dangerous shenanigans witnessed last weekend at Alkantstrand.

A video of a beach-goer spinning his vehicle around a packed parking lot was shared extensively on social media this week.

Bystanders can be seen in close proximity to the apparently out-of-control vehicle, which lost its speakers after the driver mounted the curb during the spinning session.
