While the world’s total number of Covid-19 cases sits at 57 258 307, South Africa is almost out of the top 20 countries, having dropped to 16th.

The USA remains at the top of the list with the most number of cases globally – 12 070 712 – while India remains in second place with 9 004 365, and Brazil in third place with 5 983 089 cases.

There are currently 16 145 500 active cases globally, of which 1% are serious or critical. Of the 41 112 807 closed cases around the world, 3% (1 365 965) have resulted in death.

South Africa’s lockdown Level 1 restrictions were eased last week, but South Africans are urged to remain compliant to the remaining restrictions, including wearing masks, sanitising and practising social distancing.
