Richards Bay CANSA ambassadors committed to the cause

A number of Richards Bay athletes raised funds for CANSA in Zululand while participating in the recent Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

RICHARDS Bay athletes Dawie Augustyn, Nomonde Ngonyama, Kate Brading and Sinenhlanhla Gumede, raised funds for CANSA in Zululand while participating in the recent Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

The four Richards Bay CANSA Care Centre ambassadors raised R6 275, which contributes towards their target of R10 000 by the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Showcasing their commitment to the cause, Sanlam has pledged to match the amount.

The ambassadors said this was an opportunity to honour those fighting cancer, as well as friends and family who have lost this brave fight.

‘I have lost too many friends to cancer, and have a friend, Cynthia, who is still fighting the battle,’ said Kate. ‘I am doing this for them.’

She said the more funds made available will allow for more testing, so that ‘the battle is not lost before it’s begun’. ‘If I can run to raise funds, then I will do it. If we all chip in a little, it can go a long way,’ she said.
