Robbers pose as home buyers

'We advise real estate agents to personally accompany prospective home buyers'

Police urge real estate agents to exercise extra caution at show houses after one property was robbed in Richards Bay by two women posing as potential buyers.

Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Capt Debbie Ferreira, said a property in Meerensee was robbed of electronics last Friday after two females had visited the premises and told the domestic worker they had an appointment to view the house around midday.

‘The worker made calls to verify if they were legitimate and allowed them in.

‘Later that afternoon the family discovered valuables were missing from the property,’ said Ferreira. ‘We advise real estate agents to personally accompany prospective home buyers when viewing the properties as criminals are always on the prowl for easy targets.’
