Hang loose on No Bra Day

Social media users are encouraged to post using the  #nobraday hashtag to promote awareness of breast cancer symptoms

MOST women will agree that one of the best feelings in the world is removing their bra after a long day at work.

Well, today you can do just that, but for a worthy cause.

Also aptly known as ‘the moment we get home from work day’, No Bra Day is held annually in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and calls for women across the globe to go braless for the day.

Initially observed on 9 July 2011, No Bra Day had, within three years, moved to 13 October in alignment with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Social media users are encouraged to post using the  #nobraday hashtag to promote awareness of breast cancer symptoms.

Some women use the day as a political statement, while others seek to use it as an excuse to go without this somewhat restrictive item of clothing.

While some feel No Bra Day makes light of a serious disease, it is a fun way of highlighting this disease that so many feel uncomfortable to talk about, especially men who may feel there is a stigma attached to having breast cancer.

No Bra Day serves to help remind people that breast cancer is a potentially fatal disease if not caught early, but that it is also one of the most preventable forms of cancer.

No Bra Day is all about learning to spot early warning signs and get the edge in the fight against cancer.
