Durban University of Technology ranked one of SA’s top five universities

The institution is also on the Top 500 global universities' list

THE Durban University of Technology (DUT) has been ranked as one of the best universities in South Africa and Africa.

The institution is rated among the top 5 universities in the country and has made the top 500 global universities list of Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021.

This is the first time the university has been featured on the global rankings.

This year’s ranking analysed more than 80 million citations, 13 million research publications and included survey responses from 22 000 scholars worldwide.

The rankings are regarded as the largest and most diverse, and include more than 1 500 universities from 93 countries.

The institution’s performance was measured on five important categories – teaching, research, citations, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Engagement, Professor Sibusiso Moyo, expressed her excitement over the achievement.

‘We are glad to see that our hard work over a decade and policy and strategic interventions over the last five years have born fruit,’ he said.
