Covid-19: South Africa’s active cases firmly below the 100 000 mark

While this is positive news, South Africans are urged to continue following regulations including social distancing, sanitising and the wearing of masks, particularly as lockdown restrictions become more relaxed under lockdown Level 2

SOUTH Africa’s active Covid-19 cases continue to drop, having decreased by 30 000 in just a few days.

As of 9am this (Friday) morning, the country’s active cases are 73 320, now firmly below the 100 000 mark and dropping daily.

Recoveries as of this morning are 531 338, while total cases are 618 286.

More than 3.6 million tests have been conducted across the country.

The past seven days have seen South Africa breach the half-million mark in recoveries and remain consistently below the 100 000 mark for active cases.

The death rate rose by 126 in the past 24 hours.

Globally, there are 24 635 566 Covid-19 cases in total, with 17 096 673 recoveries.

Of the 6 703 214 active cases in the world, 99% or 6 641 813 are considered mild, with a mere 61 401 considered critical.
