Richards Bay NPO promotes safety awareness

Mask and food donations were overseen by African Solidarity Campaign (AfriSoC)

RICHARDS Bay organisation African Solidarity Campaign (AfriSoC), is actively promoting health, hygiene and safety awareness in communities amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Donating masks with their food parcel distributions, organisation founder Mmindje Kabakilwa Steven said the initiative was aimed at encouraging communities to do their part in flattening the curve and to stop the spread of the coronavirus through increased sanitation efforts, social distancing and, most importantly, wearing masks correctly at all times.

AfriSoC volunteers visited Mandlazini last week and conducted awareness campaigns at the community clinic, sport facilities and at spaza shops.

‘With the support of Zululand Observer’s DICE charity organisation and Hillside Aluminium, sponsored masks were distributed in public areas around Mandlazini and awareness raised about the seriousness of the pandemic,’ said Steven.

The organisation will continue with its distribution efforts, and any business or individual prepared to donate masks can contact Steven on 082 7012483.
