WATCH: Be part of the ZO’s drop-off charity drive

Drive through the ZO's 'Hang out with Madiba' drop-off zone this morning

AS part of the Zululand Observer’s annual ‘Hang out with Madiba’ campaign, the newspaper is calling on the community to drop off winter woollies and food items this morning.

Volunteers will be on hand at the Zululand Observer Empangeni offices to accept laundered used or new clothing and blankets as well as non-perishable food items to assist NPOs and vulnerable members of the community.

All you need to do is spend 67 minutes of your time collecting these items from your home and then make a charitable delivery at the ZO drop-off zone between 8am and 12 noon on Friday, 17 July.

The onset of Covid-19 has seen a wave of humanitarian work being carried out by ordinary people across the country to help the most disadvantaged communities. Zululand is no exception, and during this time when families are struggling financially and facing unemployment, the provision of food, winter clothing and blankets has never been more needed.

The washed laundry of love collected on the day will be distributed via the ZO’s charity arm – DICE (Do I Care Enough?) to needy organisations and communities.

This year the ZO has again partnered with the Rotary Clubs of Empangeni and Richards Bay to ensure that Zululanders are part of this philanthropic effort aimed at helping the destitute.
Service clubs, school children and businesses are encouraged to collect clothing, blankets and food items, which can then be dropped off at the ZO charity line.

All donors must wear masks and social distancing measures will be practised at all times.
Unable to get to our charity line on the day, please give us a call. Richards Bay donors can make drop-offs at the ZO Richards Bay office – 105 Bullion Boulevard.
