Possibility of evening load-shedding high – Eskom

A number of generation units are offline either through maintenance or having tripped

THE public is urged to reduce electricity usage as a number of Eskom generation units are off the grid.

Eskom said that the possibility of peak (evening) load-shedding is high from today (Thursday) and throughout the weekend.

‘One generation unit at the Tutuka power station tripped while another one was taken off the grid, as well as at Lethabo,’ said the power utility this afternoon.

‘The return to service of a generation unit each at Duvha and Kendal power stations has been delayed.

‘All of this has added significant pressure to the generation system.’

Any additional breakdowns will compromise Eskom’s ability to supply electricity to the country during the peak demand period of 5pm – 9pm.

Residents should check the City of uMhlathuze website for the latest load-shedding schedule.
