Hospital in Empangeni spreads goodwill during Child Protection Week

All staff were encouraged to donate items of food to spread hope to vulnerable children

Child Protection Week, commemorated from 31 May to 7 June, is an annual campaign to raise awareness on the rights of children, as articulated in the Children’s Act of 2005.

The campaign began in 1997 and it aims to mobilise all sectors of society to ensure that children are cared for and protected.

In commemoration of Child Protection Week, Life Empangeni Private Hospital embarked on an initiative to support the efforts of local organisations.

Throughout the week, all staff were encouraged to donate items of food to spread hope to vulnerable children during this challenging time.

On Friday, 5 June, they handed over food parcels to Musawenkosi Ministries, an organisation that helps children severely affected by the HIV/Aids epidemic.

‘It was great to see the participation and support from the staff at Life Empangeni Private Hospital towards this initiative,’ said spokesperson Amanda Thurston.
