Not wearing a bra during lockdown? Experts say you should be

Apart from 'Cooper's droop', ditching one's bra could also lead to more serious health complications

ALTHOUGH walking around the house bra-less has been a perk for many women during the lockdown, experts have warned this may lead to sagging breasts.

Garment technologist Victoria Shelton of ‘Figleaves’, said apart from ‘Cooper’s droop’, ditching one’s bra could also lead to more serious health complications, such as poor posture.

Shelton said if breasts are left unsupported, damage can occur to the Cooper’s ligament in the breast, which might cause them to sag.

She encouraged women to rather opt for more comfortable or maternity style bras with flexi underwire.

Dr Riccardo Frati of Frati Cosmetic Surgery, also urged women to wear the right bra for their cup sizes to be more comfortable.

He said a bra should feel like you are not wearing one at all.

‘Everything should be held in the right place with the right amount of support to the breast and shoulder that also provides an enhanced shape.

‘This is especially important for women who require larger cup sizes,’ Frati said.
